So, me and my friend just visited a local Audi dealership. Then he order an Audi RS6 Avant in Black. I'm so jealous at him. Not only because he bought that thing, he's the only person in my country that bought a Black RS6 Avant.
And then, the salesman tell us that, almost nobody walks to Any random audi dealers and buy an Avant. They prefer either Q7, A4, TT, S8, RS4, or an R8. And so far they only able to sell One RS6 Avant in the last 10 years. Yes folks, ONE.
My friend is their second RS6 Avant buyer.
And that's mean I have no chance of buying a used RS6 Avant in here..

Is it difficult to import a used car in Indonesia?

Depends on how far and old the car imported from.
Closer the car, it's easier.
That's why Holdens and JDM minivans is such a hit in here.
But the weird thing is, it's easier to import old Holdens than something newer like R33 GT-R.

Indonesia has no love for super-wagons? This makes me sad.
I remember your post about the Crown Vic yesterday, surely importing an RS6 Avant from Europe would be possible?

How many non-black RS6 Avants are there? Isn't blue the omg color, and white the only socially-acceptable alternative?

Yep. So far I only count 1, and he's my friend up there. Before the RS6 he get the S4 Avant.
Possible, yes. But the cost would be Astronomical.
First, you have to buy that, at £8450. Then, you have to ship that thing here, which is about 5000£ (Assuming the car weighs as heavy as a Bentley Continental Supersport and imported from UK, that's what my friend at a car club paid)
Then, at 11,450, you have to add 200% luxury tax because it's a car. Bring the car to 34,550. And add 15% road tax, and 10% VAT.
I rather have a Lancer for that money. Especially it's an audi with 84k miles..

Thanks for the informative response. I know how it goes as I used to live in/on a Caribbean island with similar import regulations/taxes.
Are local dealership prices comparable to say UK for official imports? I know when I was looking at a new Toyota Hilux in the Caribbean it was nearly £40,000 and the dealer wouldn't move on the price, even though we wanted to buy two of them. They also refused to sell a base model, only one with all the extras and alloy wheels.

Hmm
It depends on where he got the car.
If he got that from Malaysia or Australia, then it would be cheap, thanks to Asean+China n Australia free trade.
And yes, in here a fully loaded hilux is about the same price, altough the base model is just about 30k.

Give then a 2003 Beetle. :U

Beetle is very popular in here indeed.
Pro tip:
If you saw a well-mantained convertible beetle (not he new one, they are expensive) in indonesia, there's 90% chance the owner is pretty. Really

Yes, surely. Still pretty long time, tough.
Here's his previous car.
I remember overtaking an M5 at 150mph in this thing. Too bad after 11 years he become bored and greedy and bought an RS6.
*Altough I do have a space for an avant somewhere in my garage...

Well if I ever make it to your corner if the world, which I do intend to do someday, I shall pay you a visit. :)

Sure, just visit my little country!
Then we'll take this thing to the highway. In Indonesia, there's no speed limit. There's only a "Suggested Safe Speed" at 70mph. So the Avant could absolutely fly.

There would happen to be a need for well paid English teachers in your little country? ;)
![]() 09/02/2013 at 15:05 |

Teacher?
Yes.
But well paid?
No.
They're generaly, at most, only paid 1k/month. And that's in a very big city like Jakarta.
